It was founded in 1981 as the Kwantlen College to improve vocational training across the Fraser Valley. In 1988, it became a university college, and 20 years later, the government made it a polytechnic university. In the region, it is the largest school by enrollment with an estimated 20,000 students and 1400 staff members. KPU is the only English-language polytechnic university in Canada. If you have a wild interest in nature, especially flowers, you can join the School of Horticulture in Langley. It boasts of gardens, greenhouses, a field lab, and several science programs such as geology, chemistry, biology, brewing, and physics. The Langley campus also offers music programs and boasts of an auditorium and performance spaces. KPU Richmond was the first official campus of KPU. It is the home of fashion and design programs and business courses. The school has state-of-the-art facilities such as 3D printers, teaching studios and labs, and gallery spaces. If you wish to pursue a business course or are interested in athletics, look no further than KPU Surrey, the main campus.
