The London South Bank University is a cosmopolitan university with over 15,000 students, from over 130 countries located in the United Kingdom. The main campus of the university is located in Southwark, London. Two smaller campuses are present at Whipps Cross Hospital and Havering, both of which are situated in East London. The University operates out of the departments of Health and Social Care, Business and Computing, Arts and Humanities, and Engineering and the Built Environment.

LSBU is one of London’s oldest universities; since 1892 the university has focused on providing professional opportunity for all who can benefit. The university has strong links with business and employers in the private and public sectors, which feed into courses and help students to form useful career connections and experience. Work placements feature on many LSBU courses. London South Bank University has a compact city-centre campus close to Elephant and Castle, Waterloo and London Bridge tube and rail stations. There is also a campus in Havering, Essex.

London South Bank University is located in Central London, Newington. London is a leading global city, has been described as a world cultural capital and in 2012 became the first to host a summer Olympics three times. Strong in the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism and transport, it is one of the world’s leading financial and legal centres.
Our main campus is a 10-minute walk from the famous centre of the arts, South Bank, and mainline stations such as London Waterloo and London Bridge, and a two-minute walk from Elephant & Castle Underground station. Stay in our halls of residence or nearby in private rented accommodation and you’ll have the perfect base to explore the history and culture of this megacity.

Accommodation at London South Bank University

LSBU has four halls of residence right in the heart of central London, giving students a perfectly-located yet safe and comfortable base. All of our halls are within a 10-minute walk of our Southwark campus.

International students attending the University for the first time are guaranteed accommodation if they meet the allocation criteria and apply to our Accommodation Office by 1 August.

Our residences have great public transport connections, whether you’re travelling by bus, train or London Underground, and are a close to many of London’s key attractions and amenities.

We have over 1,400 single bedrooms spread across four buildings. Each single occupancy, self-catered room features:

  • A choice of en-suite or standard room
  • Wi-Fi internet and access to the University network
  • On-site laundry facilities
  • on-site management teams and on-call staff for emergencies

All rooms are non-smoking and have access to a kitchen. Flats accommodate between two and nine residents, depending on the building.

  • Nearly all students who request accommodation, meet the selection criteria, and complete the relevant paperwork by the required deadline are offered places.
  • Priority is given to international students, first-year undergraduate and postgraduate students, students with special needs and those who live furthest away from the university.
  • University-owned accommodation is within a ten-minute walk of the campus.
